Menopause, Estrogen, Crazy Symptoms -- How to Get Help
![]() |
When it comes to menopause, estrogen, crazy symptoms and distressing side effects, you should seek the advice of your doctor. You do not have to suffer with the debilitating effects of menopause. Common side effects of this change of life include hot flashes, night sweats, loss of libido, anxiety, depression, thinning hair, excess facial hair, weight gain and more. Not only that, but the effects of menopause may continue for several years before ending. Therefore, battling the adverse effects of menopause can be an ongoing fight that should be undertaken with your physician.
Not to say that the only remedies for menopausal symptoms are those prescribed by your doctor. There are a variety of natural remedies that may provide relief. For example, sage tea is an ages old remedy for reducing the duration and severity of night sweats. Ginseng and gingko biloba are often used to increase circulation, sharpen the mind and add vitality. St. John's Wort is an herb that is commonly used for treating anxiety and depression naturally without the need for prescription antidepressants. Passionflower and valerian are herbs that may be used alongside St. John's Wort for the purposes of relieving anxiety and insomnia. Of course, you should never use natural remedies without seeking medical advice first.
Speaking of medical advice, there are also treatments that your doctor can provide. Hormone replacement therapy, or HRT, is a controversial yet fairly common method of treating the uncomfortable symptoms of menopause. However, some women are unable to use HRT. For these women, natural remedies can be the best course of action. Another commonly prescribed treatment is antidepressants such as Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft. SSRI antidepressants may be helpful for not just the anxiety and depression of menopause but also the hot flashes.
A good multivitamin with calcium is another helpful remedy for menopause, estrogen crazy symptoms. Calcium may help lower your risk of osteoporosis, a common condition for aging women. Not only that, but the body burns valuable nutrients during hot flashes and night sweats that a good multivitamin can replenish. In the vitamin aisle of your local drugstore, supermarket or health food store you will also find various supplements geared towards menopause. Before taking any supplements, ask your doctor. This is especially important if you are taking other prescriptions to avoid potentially serious interactions.
